No Sew Tutu

Yesterday Jamie and I made a no sew tutu for her daughter Mackenzie. It was for a last minute Halloween costume. We had so much fun making it. I was surprised that it only took about an hour to make the no sew tutu.

We cut the 7/8 inch grosgrain ribbon about 14 inches longer than her waste. About 7 inches in on each end of the ribbon we made a knot. We cut the tulle about 25 inches in length then folded it in half. I took the loop of the tulle underneath the ribbon and pulled the ends through the loop knotting it like so. We alternated between hot pink, baby pink, black, purple, and mint green tulle until it was full between the knots. I had all the supplies in my stash so it didn’t cost us a penny. When Mackenzie got home from school we had her try it on. Sweet success she loved it.

She wanted to tie it in the front. She marches to the beat of her own drum. Her moms words not mine. Next time I would make the ties a little bit longer.

My next project is a firefighter themed baby quilt for a customer. This is the fabric I have picked out so far.

I am going to buy some orange and yellow to go with the flames and get to cutting. Pictures will be posted next week of the finished baby quilt.

Tutu’s, Hair Bows, Baby Quilts, and More!

I went to North Carolina the first week of February. Laura, (One of the 2 best friends I have known since 7th grade) had to have surgery. Where she lives she has no family to help her around the house so she could rest. She has two kids and I knew that she would do way more than she was supposed to. She had two baby quilts waiting for me to quilt while I was there. I forgot to get a picture of the first one. I’ll have to have her email one to me. This one I brought home with me and free motion quilted last week.

This picture was with the flash on. I quilted it with a simple loop pattern all over.

I also finished making a Kindle cover today for a friend at church. I asked her what color she said it didn’t matter as ling as it was girly. The inside is a pale pink with white polka dots.

I also sewed a tutu on to this size 3T tshirt.

I sewed a tutu on a onesie but I think I sewed it too high up. A girl from church is gonna try it on her toddler to see how far I need to come down with it.

This is a hair bow I made that is for sale on Etsy.

3 blogs

Ask me why I have three blogs? It is crazy trying to keep up with one.  I try to keep this blog just for sewing and quilting. I have Fabric Mom’s blog which is the first one I started where I post about other crafts I make. And then there is Posty Pals, which  is for fabric postcards. Posty Pals originally started as a group of 6 or 7 women who all swapped with each other. We don’t get to swap like we used to. However I still keep the blog going for people interested in making fabric postcards and for people to get ideas from.

I recently posted some new posted some new pictures if you would like to go over there and visit.

Tagging

I joined the Zibbet community recently. If you are an artist of hand made items then you need to know about Zibbet. It is very similiar to Etsy.

I opened a shop there (Fabricmom) to advertise the quilts I make. Right now I have up a listing for a crib sized memory quilt.

The community is for the people who have shops to communicate and share information. I came across these two articles about tagging. They are both full of very good information.

The Zibbet Tag Game

Tag! Your it.

Now of course it will probably be my luck that you have to be a member to read the articles.
