I came across this pattern on the AllSorts Blog and thought that I would like to try that. I have tons of scrap squares that are left overs from other projects. My squares where only 4 inches though. The directions called for 4 1/2 inch squares. So I just down sized a little. It was a very easy and fast project. It took about 15 minutes. I ended up mailing these to my mother as part of her birthday present. My 4 year old son wants me to make some more. He thinks they are really cool. So do I.
I decided that I needed to make myself a tote bag for church. It seems like I always leave with more than I come with. So to make it easier on myself I made this.
I was at Hancock fabric and they were having a half off sale. They had this awesome batik material sewn into patches. I think I got a half of a yard for around $1.50. I lined it with a green batik and sewed a pink floral pocket onto the green material. I just love batik material. It is just so colorful and speaks to the child in me. This bag was very easy to make. I have gotten a few compliments at church too. Not too bad for a days work.
