Charmed Table Runner and Coaster

I made this table runner and set of drink coasters for dear friends from church. Justin is our youth minister and song leader. His fiance Sylvia teaches the little kids too. They are a sweet young couple whom I wish many years of happiness. Her bridal shower was yesterday. I started to make a quilt but just didn’t have time to work on it. It is much easier to make smaller projects. Maybe i will still be able to make that quilt before they get married on December 22nd.

Mini Art Quilt

I made this mini art quilt for a swap on Swap-Bot. The swap was for beginners. I decided to use a fall colors and add a silk flower to it. I’m not sure why, but this has become something I like to do. Maybe because I have a bag full of silk flower cast offs from where I used to work. I was going to make a quilt with them and just haven’t gotten around to it.

The finished quilt is about 6 1/2 inches square. I used black thread to add some detail to the leaves in the nine patch blocks.

New Quilting Group – My Quilting Buddies

A dear friend of mine Tina,  has started a new online quilting group. It is called My Quilting Buddies. If you like to swap or chat with other quilters around the world you might want to check it out. I am hosting a few swaps.

There are no sew swaps: 4 1/2 inch charms, fat quarters, fat 8ths, strip swap, and a layer cake swap.

The sew swaps are: a themed 6 1/2 inch nine patch swap, Scrappy Tennessee block, I’ve been framed block, Box quilt block, Stash buster block, and a wall hanging or table mat swap.

There are 3 different blocks of the month to choose from. There is also a barter board where you can post items you no longer want and list what you want for it. Very cool. I have traded blocks that I made but never made into a quilt and fabric I no longer wanted. We all have that moment when going through out stuff and think, “Why did I buy this?” Usually for me it was because it was on sale. LOL.There is also a list of great free patterns and tutorials.

I am hosting the scrappy strip swap, 4 1/2inch charm swap, and the 6 1/2 inch nine patch swap.

So please come by and say Hi and maybe join a swap. Hope to see you there.

Work In Progress – Cowboy Quilt

I started a baby blanket for my cousin’s son two years ago. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to finish it. It is one of those projects that I have felt some guilt over not finishing. Terrance isn’t a baby anymore so I had to add to the original blanket to make it bigger. I had to think about what I wanted to do to it for a few days. I don’t have anymore of the cowboy material so I wasn’t sure what exactly I was going to do. I just know that I didn’t want to scrap it and start over. Here is it before adding to it.

After some much needed sewing, yesterday it was turned into this.

I think to finish it off I am going to add some 4 patches to the top and bottom and then a dark blue border.

Another One Bites The Dust

I was able to finished this quilt last night while Andrew was sleeping. I am sending it to some one for a baby shower gift. It feels great to have one less quilt to finish. Now I am down to 34 UFO’s.  I have decided to make the baby quilt for my cousin Terrance bigger. He isn’t a baby anymore. So now I am going to add some nine patches to make it bigger. I was able to get the strips ironed and some muslin cut for the nine patches. I am using blue strips from my stash. Here is what the quilt looks like before adding more to it.

Update on Kids

Our appointment went well. Joshua is good to go. His sty is going away. Andrew’s ear is all better but he is still rattling in his chest. They did an x-ray and it was clear. So they gave him a breathing treatment and I have to do them at home. Hopefully in the next few days the rattle will be gone.

I was able to sew these blocks together  this morning while Andrew took a little nap. Nine patches seems to fly together. Too bad all quilt blocks aren’t so quick. 🙂

Today is the last day to leave a comment for the fat quarter I am giving away in the morning. Here is another look at it.

Nine Patch Quilt

Here is my latest finish. I received it in the mail today from my wonderful mother in-law. She long arm quilts.  They were her right after Andrew was born. I sent it home with her. This is the second quilt I have actually made for myself. It is just a little small for my queen size bed but it will be great to cuddle under. LOL. The nine patches are from swaps from 2 online quilting groups that I belong to.

Andrew is 2 months old today. He is getting so big. He loves to sit up and check life out around him. He is starting to droll and chew on his fist. He is a cutie.
